Map with Best Activities in Jamaica

1   Negril – Seven Mile Beach

You will find a piece of paradise on the west coast of Jamaica. Just imagine the clearest water and the finest sand in the world, and you have a rough idea of how stunning this beach is. Plus, there are beautiful sunsets every evening, the sky slowly turning shades of yellow, orange, and red. Postcard idyll. No wonder this beach is chosen every year as one of the most beautiful beaches in the world. If you are looking for some sports and action, how about water-skiing, banana boat, sailing, kayaking, parasailing, or a tour on a glass-bottom boat?

2   Negril – Rick's Café

Do you, as one or the other, almost stop your heart at the sight of the cliff jumpers? Or are you one of the brave ones and jump right after them? High up on the cliffs, you will find Rick's Café, famous for its cliff divers and sunsets.

There's live music every night, and the food and cocktails taste even better with the incredible view. Don't forget your swimsuit, because even if you don't jump off the cliff into the sea, be sure to swim in the pool.

3   Ocho Rios – Mystic Mountain

Get comfortable in the chairlift and enjoy the romantic ride; it goes 213 meters up to Mystic Mountain. In the middle of the lush rainforest, an absolutely fantastic nature theme park has been created here. You can watch hummingbirds, zip line, let off steam on the climbing wall, and scramble around at dizzying heights in the climbing park. Afterward, you can swim in the pool, slide down the water slide and enjoy the fantastic view over Ocho Rios. You can also enjoy the view from the restaurant with a delicious cup of Blue Mountains coffee.

Our personal highlight: the ride on the bobsled! It was the first Jamaican bobsleigh team to compete in the 1988 Winter Olympics and was made into a movie, by the way, Cool Runnings.

To top it off, you can walk halfway down the track with an escort, and the staff will explain flora and fauna. This is fascinating because they know everything from strangler figs to medicinal plants.

4   Ocho Rios – Dunn's River Falls

Dunn's River Falls is one of the attractions par excellence in Jamaica, and it is one of the most unique waterfalls on the island. It is naturally terraced, like a giant staircase. So we are at the point: climb a waterfall. In fact, with the help of Water Shoes (don't try it without), you can easily climb the waterfall. There are also small slides here and there. Bet that you will climb up more than once?

By the way, it flows into the sea, which is extremely rare worldwide. And speaking of the ocean, there is also a lovely beach. Relax to the sound of the sea and enjoy the perfect temperature of the sea.

Historically, Dunn's River Falls has something to offer as well. In 1657 the Spanish and the English fought here for the possession of the island. By the way, many scenes for the James Bond movie “Dr. No” were shot here.

5   Montego Bay – Glistening Water

How about a bath in phosphorescent water filled with microorganisms? Okay, new try. How about a bath in the middle of the night? Doesn't it knock your socks off, either? All right, let's do it this way: How about taking a bath in a natural wonder that glows and sparkles in the night when you move? Like a sea of thousands of stars? Yes, something like that actually exists.

The “fireflies of the seas” light up brightly when you move. Why exactly and what for? We don't know. Only this much: it is an absolutely fascinating phenomenon. It is absolutely rare worldwide, and here in Jamaica, you can even swim in the water. The water is alternately warmer and cooler, and the bottom feels a bit like damp absorbent cotton – put on water shoes if in doubt.

The craziest place for a bar? In the middle of the ocean! No such thing? It does. Floyd's Pelican Bar is really and truly in the middle of the Caribbean Sea. Floyd dreamed of this bar one night and actually built it in 2001.

At first, it was just a little hangout for him and his fisherman friends to play dominoes and stuff. Then the tourists came, but thank God this unique bar hasn't lost any of its vibes. Make sure you bring a souvenir and become part of the bar decoration.

Everything is green, full of ferns, eucalyptus, colorful wildflowers, and the Jamaica bamboo, which blooms only every 33 years. By the way, they are called the Blue Mountains because the peaks are mostly covered with fog, and especially in the morning, they shimmer bluish.
